We are thrilled to announce that CBE Women will be hosting our highly anticipated annual fruit-picking event on Saturday, September 21st, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the beautiful Indian Creek Farm, just a short 2-mile trip from campus. This is the perfect time of year to embrace the fall season, as Indian Creek Farm offers a vibrant selection of fresh, local produce. Each attendee will receive 2 pounds of free fruit along with delicious, complimentary donuts to enjoy! It’s a great way to welcome our new students to the CBE department and strengthen our community.
Everyone is warmly invited to attend! Please register using this link by Monday, September 16th. When registering, be sure to indicate if you’ll need a ride to the farm or if you’re able to offer one, so we can coordinate transportation for everyone. Student Organization Leadership Award 2024
CBE women as been honored as co-winners of the 2024 Student Organization Leadership Award for the exemplary student organizations of the year by the Cornell Engineering Alumni Association (CEAA) and the College of Engineering
This year, CBE Women has worked diligently and creatively to increase membership and improve activities. Main accomplishments include establishing three new initiatives: the Future Faculty Workshop, the Careers Outside Academia program, and increasing attendance at the annual W.O.M.E.N outreach event.
CBE Women group has also successfully launched a minimum of one event per month, alternating between professional development, entrepreneurship, networking, and outreach. These events aim to provide opportunities for graduate students and postdocs (especially women) to develop their leadership and professional development skills.

WOMEN EVENT

Breakfast with Professor Jerrod A. Henderson

Jacob Belding: It was great meeting Prof. Henderson over breakfast – I really enjoyed learning about the work he is doing and hearing about his own story as well. Even though our areas of research might not seem related at first glance, we found common ground in our interest in clever graphical representations of high-dimensional data. And it was also great just to share a good meal with a really nice person!
Belen Sotomayor: It was a wonderful meeting where we learned that introducing kids to STEM early can make a big difference in their lives and academic journeys. We also shared our own stories, got inspired to make a positive impact in the STEM community—whether in academics or beyond!
